Zach Got A New Winter Coat Today

Do you see how much he loves this thing? And look at how awesome my camera is! It was pitch black in his bedroom. Zach was sweating like a pig when I finally got this downy thing off of him! We're going camping in a few weeks, hence the need for a new coat in late September. But you never know, this is Colorado, it could snow tomorrow, or say in June.

Did I forget to mention that my darling husband was the bargain shopper today? Found this $70 London Fog at Ross for $13.99. Nice job Ryan!

Have a nice day, and stay warm!

Why I Like the Princess Diaries Movies

-Mia is so weird
-I love Julie Andrews, and it makes me happy that she sings in the second movie
-Lilly is such a weird girl, but Mia likes her anyway
-I like the music
-Josh is such a dork, tell me again why she likes him?
-I like Anne Hathaway, as long as she isn't naked! :)
-I like the scooter she rides to school
-Mia wears beautiful dresses-lets just add some sleeves, I could take care of that for her...
-Mia Thermopolis is such a cool name
-She ends up being Queen! Who wouldn't like it?
-There is nothing bad in the movies (except for the one time with the nuns...)
-Some people think I look a little like Anne Hathaway-at least I can do the pre-princess-makeover uni brow thing really well!

Doctor

The visit to the doctor went much better than the dentist did a few weeks ago. Maybe it had something to do with the nurse also being Zach's Primary Teacher. Hmmm. Zach decided on the way home that he wants to be a doctor. Neither of the kids cried when they got their finger poked for an iron test. That was nice.

Blazing Star

I finally finished my Blazing Star quilt! I started it about a year ago, but it took me that long to get around to finishing it!

Spensive

Cutting Nails:

Zach: You have to be careful with my pinki cause it's spensive.

Ellen: Expensive?

Z: Yeah, spensive. But you don't have to be careful with my big nails because they're not spensive.

E: Do you mean sensitive?

Z: Yeah. Will the far Grandpa be happy that you cut them?

E: Yes

Something to Blog About

I'm in a slump. I don't know what to write about. We've gone to the Stake Fair over the weekend, and have tons of pictures, so I can't pick just a few. I took the kids to the museum today and we had fun. We went to City Park afterwards for a snack and we played on the huge playground. But instead I have chosen to show you some vegetables. (And fruit). I don't know. There will be something more, don't worry. To all my thousands of faithful readers I say, at least you got something today! Have a nice week!

I Helped A Little...

After the printing, cutting, and gluing they did the rest.

See any family resemblance?

This One's For Maryam

My friend Maryam loves to have pictures taken with firemen. Usually they are kissing her on the cheek I believe. So I took the opportunity to get a picture with the firemen today in her honor.

Things I'll Miss When Becky is Older

-Cuddling Zach's puppy with all her might when Zach isn't looking.

-Rubbing our noses together whenever she says "noses".

-Going in to check on her when she is crying to find out that she just wanted to cuddle.

-Being told to "sit down" on the rocker and hold her for a while before I put her in her crib.

-Saying "poop" when she means chip or chocolate chip.

-How well she obeys.

-Singing "Happy Family" with her adding in some of the words with me.
"I love mother she love me,
we love daddy yes sir-ree,
he loves us and so you see,
we are a happy family!"

I don't think my husband checked my credentials before he married me. Hope he is satisfied with my lack of horse & saddle photo and gutting skills!

Alarm Clocks

I took Zach to the Walmart yesterday so he could buy himself a new alarm clock. The other one broke. Once we found the aisle, Zach perused the selection. He found the same clock he had had before, but in a different color. He went to grab that one, but then paused and said, "I think this one is too pink for me." Then he saw a black one and almost took that one but again thought differently, "I think this one is too black for me." Then he moved to the more expensive alarm clocks and chose a black one he liked. I informed him that that particular clock would cost him one dollar more than the too pink one or too black one. He was fine with that, but wanted to know if I would give him that additional dollar. I said no. So there you have it, a 3-year-old's method of purchasing an alarm clock. He is very happy with his new, not too black, clock!

This Makes My Life Worthwhile

I love this machine! We have very well used carpet in our apartment. It was loaded with smoke and dog hair that didn't come out when the professionals cleaned it before we moved in. And you probably know how I feel about smoke and dog hair being in my house. Anyway, now I at least have some semblance of a clean floor when I use this thing. Every time I use it (every 2 weeks in a low stain-on-the-floor month) I tell Ryan how much I love it and how awesome he is for getting it for me. My Bissell is the best thing that ever happened to me! (OK well at least the 5th or 6th...) I'm just a very happy woman.

Pool or Park?

We started going to a new playgroup this morning. This is what Zach wanted to wear. It was 45 degrees outside.

After going outside Zach chose a more appropriate pair of pants and a long sleeve shirt. Good thinkin'.

But it is a comfort to know that he put on plenty of sunscreen while he was getting ready to go swimming.

No Pictures Please!

We went to the mountains yesterday for a picnic. After sitting down at a nice table in the shade, we dug in to our sandwiches, watermelon, pasta salad and potato salad. Within a few minutes a friendly wasp decided to visit our table. He crawled into Ryan's sandwich and checked things out. Then he went back and told his friends. Wonderful! We carefully threw everything back in the cooler and took off!

We found a covered eating area to finish our meal. I ate standing (so I'd be ready to run...). Ryan re-made a sandwich and we had fun. Becky wasn't in a picture-taking mood though. But we got a few good ones!

And I Get to Do This Every Six Months?

This morning I, a usually unenthusiastic person, took my kids to the dentist while singing my own vigorous renditions of "I love to see the Dentist" and "Goin' to the dentist and we're, gonna get our teeth cleaned". But this was all in vain. Zach told me for a week how brave he would be at the dentist but as soon as he walked in the little room and saw the hygienist he hid in the corner. I'll spare you all the tedious details of our 30 minutes with the hygienist, but let's just suffice it to say that Zach ended up having a very loud and squirming "lap exam". (Which basically means he sits facing me, then I lay him down like I used to hold him when he was 2 months old in order for the dentist to pry his mouth open in an attempt to see a few teeth.) It was a blast. But the high point of all of this was Becky practically jumping in my lap in order to have her "lap exam" after seeing Zach do it. She thought it was thrilling! So at least one of my kids likes the dentist!

It's All About The Bike

I seem to have created a lot of interest in "the bike". People have been asking. So now you can all see just what we're talking about here. Sorry you don't get a picture of my hot husband on the bike. I'm sure that will come later though...

Zach is taking a 50 gallon bath right now so I'd better go supervise! Have a fantastic day.

A Word About Celine Dion

I love Celine Dion fiercely. It's not creepy though, I just really admire her. Her music is incredible. I love all of it. But what I really love about her is the person she is. She is so real. She has her own feelings and dreams and she isn't afraid to share them. Even with her super busy schedule since her son was born, she is a fantastic mom. How does she do it? I can't describe it, she is just awesome.

Well anyway, I desperately want to go to her concert here in Denver in November. But no one will go with me! I am shocked. I guess others think seeing her once is enough? Well not for me. But I can't go alone. Denver at night is just too creepy for me. So I am going...somehow. Maybe I have to bribe someone to come...any takers?

A Good Day to Begin

The first of the month seems like a nice time to begin something new. After following a few blogs for a while, I've decided it's time for me to join my friends in the blogging world. This is actually really easy! I feel weird throwing my thoughts out there for anyone to read, but I guess it gets easier. This should be fun, we'll see how it goes. Now I just have to figure out the picture thing.

Zach is so hilarious. After "being in bed" for an hour this evening, he came out of his room to inform us that he couldn't sleep "because [his] bed is too comfortable". That is a new one for us. He definitely comes up with original ideas.

My sweet baby Becky isn't such a baby anymore. She now has her own set of babies that she loves and takes care of. I had no idea how natural it is for little girls to do this. But if you have one I guess you already knew this. It is pretty cool.

Ryan just got back from a ride on his motorcycle. Yes, I did say motorcycle. If you didn't know about this new addition to our family, now you do. We needed another vehicle...

And what's up with me? Well, I am working on yet another quilt. I have a list of at least 10 sewing/quilting projects I need to complete. I better get working and stop typing.
