POTW 29 and 21 and 24 too

POTW 21--I think I took this the third week in May.

I love this rose bush.  It's been blooming for months!

These variegated iris are amazing.  They smell like grapes.  Real grapes from a vine.  Like the kind they use for wine.  They smell good.

Tiny daisies on a huge plant.  It got a little attacked by a hail storm we had.

 Another iris.

 POTW 24

Penstemon (blue), Yarrow (yellow), Snap Dragons (Pinks and Reds), Grass, (green).

Zach finished 1st grade.  We loved his teacher Mrs. Brownlee!

 POTW 29 (last week)

 Just another angle.

I like these guys a lot.  They're called Mexican Hat.  I have yellow ones too.

POTW 18

The exciting feature in the garden right now are my 100 blooming allium.  They are my favorite, I think.

See that bench?  I'm trying to figure out what to do with it.  I'd like to paint it.  I'm a white paint kind of person.  But I'm worried it will stand out too much.  And what about the wrought iron part?  Opinions???

Five flats of tomatoes, peppers, basil and flowers are now residing on my porch working on being ready for full sun and cooler nights than they experienced in my basement under the lights.

I ordered 100 of these.  1 bloomed.  Major failure.  I probably need to dig them up this fall and plant them less deep.

Becky and I made a stop at the temple last weekend.

REMEMBER: to tell me what you think of my bench.  You get friend points for saying something about the bench.

We Got A New Roof Today POTW 16

Some nice men delivered shingles to our house yesterday:

Their truck had a cool crane that fork lifted the shingles up to the roof so they could unload them:

This morning at 7 a pack of 6 very nice men came and made LOTS and LOTS of noise on my roof all day.  Here is when they first started scraping shingles off:

All the trucks and gear getting unloaded.  They spread tarps all around the house to catch falling shingles and nails:

Making some progress with the removal:

After they got the shingles off the roof they hammered for an hour or so to get all the nails that didn't come off with the shingles down all the way.  That was really loud.  Then they swept and vaccumed.  It was all very tidy:

I had some visiting teaching to do so when I got back only two hours later they already had a lot of the front finished!

The nice men left at about 2:30.  Here's the final product in the shade:

And here is POTW 16:

POTW 15-POTW 13 and other stuff

Week 15:

I love these little red guys:

I found out today from a friend that I'm not the only person who drove by and saw these flowers and missed the person who planted them.  We stopped for a little photo op:

Week 13 (The lost pics that were stuck on my phone):

Over Spring Break we went to Washington park after we were at the museum.  The kids really had fun on this giant crazy tree:

At the museum Zach made what the volunteers called "the biggest tower" they'd ever seen.  He was pretty happy with it:

POTW 14-And A Few Other Things

I skipped a week.  Not on purpose.  I actually did take a picture last week but couldn't get it off of my phone.  So I have switched to a real camera until I get the phone issue resolved.  So here is week 14:

A few weeks ago there was a pretty serious fire in the mountains near my parents house.  They didn't have to evacuate and are fine.  On the first day of the fire it was REALLY windy and the fire got out of control quickly.  The sun was blood red and there was a lot of ash falling here at our house.  The camera didn't really capture the color right (or I don't know how to make it do that) but this is sort of what it was like:

Today was Easter.  The kids had a fun, sugar-filled day.  The parents are tired.

Things are blooming:

For more where that came from you'll have to head over to my garden blog...

POTW 12-No Girls Allowed

Zach's door:

The little orange sign can be turned around (it's on a christmas tree hook) when girls can be admitted.
And in case you're wondering, here are the things that are never allowed:
Bags, Shoes, Boots, Caps, Dogs, Cops, Cats, Cheese, Hampsters.

And Asia Night:

Zach had a speaking part last night at school: "New Dehli is the capital of India.  It is located in the northern central part of the country."  He did a perfect job!

POTW 11-Angle Change

My awesome friend gave me some picture advice on Saturday. So, with ladder in hand I tried some different angles of the yard. Also, the driveway really doesn't need to be included since there isn't any snow now (and it's not a very pretty driveway). So, here's the old angle, taken today (small change, I was on the ladder today, wasn't before):

Now here's new angle A:

Here's new angle B:

I'm pretty sure I've confirmed any suspicions my neighbors have about me.  I'm weird.  I go stand out in the street every week and take a picture of my house.  Yep, I'm THAT neighbor.  Don't forget to check my garden blog.

What do you think of the change?  Which do you like best?  (Including the original angle).
